The "MBLEx" stands for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination. It is a standardized examination that tests the critical knowledge needed to practice massage therapy. This is an essential exam that is required to PASS for many states to obtain a license. Not only does our training prepare students for this exam, but also the student packet includes the payment for the exam!
To gain a medical focused training, EMA collaboratively works with many highly skilled instructors from not only Massage Therapists but also the fields of Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Dermatology and Nursing!
This specialized diversity provides a unique learning experience!
EMA believes that learning should never end! After graduation, many LMTs neglect to take time to infuse their careers with continuing education so they may learn, grow and stay passionate about their work.
All EMA graduates will be offered 4 hours of continuing education classes approved by the ND Board of Massage each quarter at EMA! This is an opportunity to get education hour requirements completed for ND licensure at no cost, simply because you are our graduate!
Alumni will also receive a $15 discount on student clinic massage sessions!
Career placement cannot be guaranteed but EMA will provide career coaching to help students make connections which includes, resume writing/review, mock interviews, and
up-to-date job listings from area businesses who are seeking employees or offering rental opportunities.
When our graduates gain employment, EMA will keep a record of where the graduate starts their career.
EMA's program is ONLY Massage Therapy! That means our school's focus and passion is concentrated on providing the highest level of MASSAGE training!
This practical time will help students learn timing, gain specific experience to address dysfunctions/pathologies, and learn customer service skills. This is achieved by referrals from area Chiropractors and Doctors for clients with specific conditions to be paced with the classroom learning! At EMA, you will learn far more than the basic spa techniques.
Learning comes at different speeds for different people. At EMA, we want to be sure that you are mastering your classroom material as well as your hands-on learning. For this very reason, we provide FREE tutoring sessions to our students upon request!

I chose the massage school I did because I really liked how the curriculum was laid out, it was higher hours compared to a lot of others and I liked how many different techniques we got to learn. High School never really clicked for me. Part of the reason I chose to go to school for massage was the length of the program because I knew I would have been miserable in a typical 4 year college.
I was very nervous starting school because everyone else around me was going to college and I didn’t know what to expect. I also realized that since it was a shorter program that meant I’d be graduating college at 18/19 years old and I was so nervous that I wouldn’t know what to do afterwards.
I was brave and signed up for school anyways! I had amazing teachers who never treated me differently because of my age. They were so knowledgeable and passionate it just made me even more excited! Now I am able to take my career in so many directions and teach other people that you don’t have to be older to be successful in what you love. I am just thankful I went with my gut about starting massage school because it has really changed my life for the better.
I entered the work force as a Licensed Massage Therapist when I was barley 19 and since then I have had to ability to start a great savings account for my future. I’ve been able to purchase a new car in my own name and above all else I gained a lot of respect for myself! It is very possible to start massage school right after high school and if you are considering it, YOU SHOULD DEFINATELY GO FOR IT! - Mckenzie

I chose to attend a massage school that was focused on medical conditions as well as the school that offered the maximum amount of hours of instruction.
If I was to repeat my decision again, I would have started Massage Therapy school, and used my Massage career to help pay for my college! I have been practicing for 20 years, have a fantastic career and am still learning and growing!

I was nervous and had fear to leave my corporate America cushion job that paid well and had full benefits package including full maternity leave that I would lose when I left. I still made the leap to enroll in school.
I found school to be easy and the clinic working with clients was fulfilling. My license has allowed me to fully use my skills to help people in their journey healing their pain. - Chelsey
I began looking into Massage Therapy education when I was 57!

I began looking into Massage Therapy education when I was 57!
Tired of an office job and sitting all day, was beginning to wear on me. My daughter who had been in a car accident, was experiencing chronic pain and begging me to massage her back to relieve the pain. I found a massage table to buy and thought that I should learn how to do it correctly. I decided to do what my 90 year old grandmother always told me to do, "close your eyes and see the life that you dream of, then open them and starting living it!"
With that advice, I chose the massage therapy program that offered the most training hours and enrolled. My thought was "why would I want to limit my knowledge of something I want to learn and not take full advantage of additional education?!" When I saw Tiffany demonstrating massage the first day, I thought that it was Tai Chi, a beautiful energetic movement. I knew from that point I had chosen the right career path!
Now that I have graduated, I am nearing my 1 year anniversary and have easily paid for my training and have gotten a promotion at my other job due to my extra education! As I approach my 60th birthday, my body feels great and I owe that to my massage career!
My advice: It is NEVER too late to begin again! - Jean
If you had a dream to climb to a mountain, where would you begin? How would you make your decision of which mountain you would want to summit? What skills would you need to gain and which equipment would you trust to hold you? You could choose to climb a small mountain, however, you know that the feeling of accomplishment would only be equal to your efforts put forth. Since it is easy anyone could do it and it would not be anything special or extraordinary. To learn the skills you need to make the climb, you could put in the minimum number of hours you would need to simply learn the basics, but would that really prepare you for the obstacles and challenges you would face? Would you have confidence for your future successes with a basic rope or choose to invest in the reinforced heavy-duty rope to climb with?
Much like climbing a mountain, choosing which career training you should enroll in requires calculated thought and planning. Our 1100 hour training program we offer is a highly respected program by clients, medical professionals and others in the wellness industry. We have gained this reputation because it is an "Elite" program that was designed to go beyond basic massage technique training. Additional hours allows our students to climb higher into medical conditions and practice in clinic hours working on specific pathologies with experienced educators by their side! To be able to learn from experienced Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Nurses, our students will gain diverse knowledge and gain a competitive edge in the industry. Choosing to invest in EMA means quality educators, encouragement and support from day one!
